We are happy to announce that we will be speaking at the 31st Annual PreK-8 Literacy For All Conference which takes place from October 25-27. This conference is now virtual and, once registered, you will be able to attend sessions live for the 3-day conference and access recorded sessions through December 2020.
Our session is titled, Strategies vs. Strategic Processing: Setting the Stage for Generative Learning and it will be live on Monday, October 26, 2020 at 1:30-3:00 pm. This session will be useful for Reading Recovery teachers but will apply to any K-2 literacy teacher. We will explore the meaning of a self-extending system and how to engage students in reading experiences that will, according to Marie Clay, create an in-the-head network of strategic actions for self-regulating readers. We will examine self-monitoring, self-correcting, cross-checking, searching, and confirming behaviors and the prompting language that supports them within a K-2 lesson.
You can click here for more information and registration, and you can follow on Twitter with the official hashtag, #LiteracyForAll2020.
We have been attending the LFA conference since 2015 because it is such a valuable source of diverse learning and international connections to educators. If you are looking for quality professional development, we highly recommend this experience.
We hope to “see” you there!
